Yes, she really does! Go to http://www.discoveryeducation.com/. Login, look for something you're interested in (butterflies, phases of the moon, Elizabethan England) and see what you find! Your username is either your AR login and AR password, OR your username with sja_ in front of it. It would look like this: sja_sbatt. If you need help, ask your librarian!

Yes, I Said "Watch TV"
Can you believe it? Your librarian wants you to watch TV. If you're at a computer with headphones, put them on and click play:
Now, go read a good book!

New Books in the Library
Be sure to stop by soon to see some of our new books. Mrs. Zurek gave our school money to buy books for the library for Christmas. Someone else gave money at Christmas time to honor Mrs. Schaefer! And let's not forget the birthday books!
Be sure to stock up on new books, or old ones, before Spring Break! Did you start the countdown yet, Ronnie?

Christmas Break is for Reading???
"Seriously? Read during break? I thought break was so we didn't have to read!"
Be serious, Ronnie! You know you'll have to read a little bit during break. The back of the cereal box at breakfast, the gift receipts on the socks you take back to the store, the startup instructions for the new video game/cell phone/electronic gadget you find in your stocking. While that may sound like fun reading to you, sign me up for a long book any day. I want to get away from it all in a book! If things get boring at home (not that they could, Ronnie, not with you around), then think about taking a book out of your backpack and kicking back for a little bit.
Merry Christmas, Ronnie, and the rest of my favorites at SJA!
Love, the Librarian

Feed the Hungry, Beat the Librarian
This morning before breakfast, I donated some rice to feed the hungry. And I learned some new words. Take a break from reading at www.freerice.com. For each answer you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. There is a big WARNING on this website, though: "This game may make you smarter. It may improve your speaking, writing, thinking, grades, job performance...." Let me know if you can beat me - this morning I earned 730 grains of rice!
Signed,
Your Favorite Librarian
